The Okanagan Candidates Forum, held at Vernon's Towne Cinema on Thursday night (October 3), saw over 100 people in attendance, along with a live stream on Facebook.
The event was hosted by the Sustainable Environment Network Society (SENS).
Provincial candidates from the Vernon-Lumby and Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream districts were invited to attend the event.
Promoted as a non-partisan forum, the event featured a question-and-answer session aimed at helping voters decide which candidates would best represent their interests.
A live stream of the forum is still available on Facebook. Camera pans of the crowd show that over 100 people participated in person.
Hosted by the Sustainable Environment Network Society, invitations were extended to all candidates from the Vernon-Lumby and Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream ridings.
THE EVENT BEGINS ABOUT 22 MINUTES IN
The meeting was moderated by Dr. John Corbett, the campus head of community, culture, and global studies at UBC Okanagan.
Days before the forum, five questions were sent to the invited candidates. These pre forum questions, along with the candidates' answers, are available on the SENS website.
Additional questions came from the audience, email, and SENS members. Due to the large number of questions, Dr. Corbett amalgamated similar questions to save time.

BC Conservative candidate Dennis Giesbrecht did not attend

Conservative candidate Tara Armstrong did not attend
Green Party candidate Andrew Rose did not attend
After a five-minute opportunity for each candidate to introduce themselves and explain why they decided to run for office, the first question was asked:
"Because BC is expected to fail in meeting its fossil fuel reduction and greenhouse gas targets, what needs to be done to support the phase-out of fossil fuel and fracking production and use?"
