2024-09-13: The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP had a busy week with three significant incidents.


Busy Week for Vernon North Okanagan RCMP

Targeted Shooting:

Early on Wednesday, September 11, at approximately 2:30 a.m., multiple shots were fired at a residence in the 4700-block of Pleasant Valley Road in Vernon. No injuries were reported. Initial investigations suggest that this shooting was targeted rather than random. The RCMP is seeking any witnesses or individuals with information about suspicious activity in the area.

Alleged Break and Enter:

On Tuesday, September 10, shortly before 10 p.m., a glass break alarm was triggered at a business on 39th Avenue in Vernon. Police found that the front window had been smashed and items stolen. A 49-year-old Vernon man was arrested shortly after, allegedly in connection with the break and enter.


Fatal Collision:

On September 10, at about 3:15 p.m., RCMP attended a collision between a bus and a passenger vehicle occurred on Highway 97A near Canyon Road in Enderby.


RCMP: "Findings from the initial investigation have determined a grey Honda Accord travelling northbound on highway 97A attempted to make a left hand turn across oncoming traffic and was struck on the rear passenger side by a commercial coach bus travelling southbound on the highway"


Two occupants of the Honda were transported with non-life-threatening injuries, but the third occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. The highway was closed for several hours for the investigation, and the RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services (ICARS) is assisting with the ongoing investigation.



The RCMP continues to investigate these incidents and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
