Tragic End to the Search for Jacqueline McDermott

UPDATE: Sunday, October 9/22

Sad news for family and friends of a woman missing North of Vernon BC for over a week. RCMP report the body of Jacqueline McDermott, 22 was discovered Saturday.


The RCMP along with the BC Coroners Service continue their investigation but at this time the RCMP has stated there is no sign of criminality associated with the Ontario woman's death.

- Reported missing Saturday, Oct 1st On Saturday, October 1, 2022, to Merritt RCMP

- Last seen Thursday, September 29, 2022.



RCMP "September 30, 2022 Jacqueline had planned to attend a yoga retreat near Merritt but left after a short time. Her vehicle, which appears to have broken down, was located on Highway 97 C between Merritt and Logan Lake. Locals recall seeing Jacqueline around her vehicle."


A search was conducted by RCMP Air Services, Police Dog Services and Search & Rescue, No sign of Jacqueline has been found.



Jacqueline McDermott is described as:


- Caucasian female

- 22 years old

- 5’ 7 (170 cms)

- 111 lbs (50 kgs)

- Curly blonde hair

- Fair complexion

- Medium build

- Nose piercing
