Unregulated Drug Deaths In Vernon BC On Rise
British Columbia's drug crisis continues to claim lives at an increasing rate. According to a summary just released by the Province of British Columbia, there were 2511 suspected unregulated drug deaths across BC in 2023. That is a 5 percent increase from the previous year.

Fentanyl continues to be the leading drug involved in over 85 percent of overdose deaths.
Province-wide most deaths, 47.1 percent, occurred at a "private residence", 28 percent at an "other residence", and 18 percent occurred "outside".

In 2023, males between 30 and 59 represented 77 percent of unregulated drug deaths.
Smoking was the most common mode of consumption, accounting for 65 percent of drug deaths.
