The West Columbia region, covering areas around Revelstoke and Rogers Pass in the Columbia Mountains, is set to experience heavy snow starting tonight. Up to 15 cm of snowfall is expected before tapering off overnight, making driving conditions hazardous.

Unconfirmed reports on social media suggest slow-moving traffic and semi-trucks struggling on snowy Highway 1 east of Revelstoke.

Highway Updates

  • Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1): Compact snow and slippery sections reported between Sicamous and Revelstoke, with conditions worsening east toward the BC/Alberta border.

  • Coquihalla Highway (Highway 5): Heavy snow between Hope and Merritt, with compact snow and slushy conditions making travel difficult.

  • Highway 97C (Okanagan Connector): Limited visibility and slippery sections from Pennask Summit to Merritt.

  • Highway 97: Freezing rain reported north of Vernon, with slushy and slippery sections extending to Monte Creek.

Motorists are advised to use winter tires or chains and check DriveBC.ca for real-time updates.
