VERNON, B.C. – Emergency crews responded to multiple reports of flames and explosion-like bangs near a homeless encampment at 48th Avenue and Highway 97 on Tuesday night (March 25th, 2025).
Calls began coming in shortly before 8 p.m., prompting a rapid response from the Vernon Fire Rescue Service and several RCMP cruisers. Firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze, while individuals from the encampment were seen leaving the area.
No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire has not been disclosed.
