Greater Vernon Water - Water Quality Advisory for Kalamalka Rd Area
January 6, 2025: The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO), in partnership with Interior Health, has issued a precautionary Water Quality Advisory (WQA) for specific customers of Greater Vernon Water.
This advisory affects properties along Kalamalka Rd, north of Husband Rd and south of Alpine Centre (100 Kalamalka Rd).
The advisory is in effect until 5:00 PM on January 8, 2025.
A water main break in this area caused a loss of water pressure and increased turbidity. To ensure the safety of the water system, the RDNO is issuing this WQA while crews repair and flush the water main and conduct water sampling. Crews are currently on-site addressing the issue.
Once water service resumes, you may experience reduced water pressure, discoloured water, or air in the lines. In that case run a cold water tap until the water runs clear (preferably an outdoor tap).
Although RDNO’s service and treatment standards have been maintained, customers may wish to take additional precautions by boiling water for at least one minute before using it for:
Drinking
Preparing food
Washing fruits and vegetables
Making beverages or ice
Brushing teeth
Updates will be posted at www.rdno.ca/news (filter by Water Notices).
