Updated: Oct 15

Lumby, BC - November 16, 2023: An early morning fire completely destroyed a rural home and a personal vehicle today.

911 received calls at 6 AM reporting the incident.

Upon the Lumby & District Fire Department's arrival at the 1200 block of Creighton Valley Road, Lumby, BC, the rural house was already fully involved.

Two individuals on-site were taken to Vernon Hospital for smoke inhalation treatment.

Under the "Mutual Aid Agreement," Lumby and District Fire Department requested support from Lavington Fire Department for manpower and equipment, and BX Swan Lake Fire Hall for water tanker resources.

BC Ambulance Service and RCMP also attended.

Two dogs, several goats, and chickens in an outlying building and yard were unharmed.

Fire crews managed to contain the blaze to the house, preventing it from spreading to other buildings on the property.
