UPDATE From the Gym:

Fire Rebuild Fundraising

"As most of you know we lost our facility to a fire on October 31/21. We are fundraising to cover costs associated with securing a temporary facility, wages, and ordering equipment required to set this up that may not be covered by our insurance. We have 100's of heartbroken children and families that have been affected by this loss. Thank you for your support and kind words. Let's rebuild the gym!!!"

Sunday October 31st

The North Valley Gymnastics building in the 4700 block of 31st Street has been completely destroyed by an early morning fire.

Smoke could be seen for kilometers.

Vernon Fire and Rescue received reports of the fire shortly after 7 am. When crews arrived they found the building fully involved.

Vernon Fire Rescue Services Chief David Lind:

"Crews early this morning responded to a report of a fire at a local gymnastic center, when they arrived they found the center fully involved or heavily involved in fire so they had to

use a defensive strategy and apply water from outside."

"The building is completely lost, fortunately, the damage as been contained to one structure."

"Crews have done a good job setting up quick, unfortunately, it was so heavily involved by the time they arrived there was very little that could be done to save the building"

It's still too early to know exactly what sparked the fire. There are no reports of any injuries at this point

2 engines, a ladder truck, 20 firefighters, RCMP, Ambulance, Hydro, and Fortis were working on site.

The 4700 block of 31 street Vernon was closed for several hours while fire crews mopped up.
