VERNON, B.C. – Police are investigating the suspicious death of a man found in the downtown core on Monday, December 9, 2024.
At approximately 7:00 a.m., Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded to a report of a deceased person in a creek near a wooded area between 31st Avenue and the Freshco building.
RCMP have identified the man as 55-year-old Cory Fregin of Vernon.
The RCMP Serious Crime Unit is leading the investigation and is appealing to the public for assistance.
“Cory was found wearing a red and black plaid jacket, and we are asking anyone who saw him in the area on December 8th or 9th to contact police,” said Cpl. Tania Finn, Media Relations Officer with the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.
Police are also seeking dashcam footage or any information about suspicious activity near 31st Avenue and the creek during that time.
