SPALLUMCHEEN, B.C. February 21, 2025: – RCMP officers are investigating a rural property in Spallumcheen where they suspect an illegal drug lab is operating.

If confirmed, this would mark yet another instance in a concerning and ongoing trend of clandestine drug operations in the North Okanagan region.

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded to the property on Reservoir Road earlier this week, where they observed materials indicative of drug production.

Following the observations, a search warrant was executed, revealing the presence of a clandestine drug lab.

"This marks the continuation of a troubling trend of drug-related activities in our region," said Constable Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer. "At this time, there is no immediate threat to public safety, but the investigation remains active. A police presence will continue at the site for several more days."

The RCMP’s Federal Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response Team (CLEAR) is now working alongside local officers to assess and process the scene.

This discovery is the latest in a series of significant drug busts in the North Okanagan:

  • September 2024 – A seizure of 30,000 kg of chemicals from a suspected methamphetamine lab in Enderby.

  • October 2024 – The dismantling of Canada’s largest fentanyl and methamphetamine "superlab" in Falkland.

  • 2018 – A major raid on a clandestine lab on Trinity Valley Road near Lumby, resulting in significant drug seizures.
