April 18, 2025 , Lake Country, B.C. - A coordinated search effort unfolded late Thursday night in the rugged backcountry east of Lake Country, as emergency responders mobilized to locate a person reportedly ejected from a vehicle in the Beaver Lake area.
Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) said BC Ambulance first requested assistance after receiving reports of a possible medical emergency involving a driver who had been thrown from their vehicle. Due to the area’s rough terrain and limited cell service, paramedics were unable to reach the scene.
COSAR crews deployed with UTVs and snowmobiles, staging their operation at the junction of Beaver Lake Road and Dee Lake Road — a remote intersection approximately 16 kilometres east of Highway 97 in Winfield.
Despite a comprehensive ground search, the individual could not be located. As of this morning, COSAR says the file has been turned over to the RCMP for further investigation.

By the time the search was stood down, a wide range of resources had responded to the callout, including:
Lake Country Fire Department
RCMP members from both Kelowna and Vernon
Multiple BC Ambulance units, including a supervisor
Search and rescue teams from both Vernon and Central Okanagan
Authorities have not confirmed whether the original report was accurate or if the person in question remains missing. The RCMP has yet to release an official statement.
The area around Beaver Lake and Dee Lake is popular with outdoor enthusiasts but is known for its difficult access and spotty communication coverage, which can complicate emergency responses.
This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
