Vernon, BC – It was a busy Thursday morning for Vernon Fire Rescue Service, as crews responded to three separate fires within a two-hour span.
The first incident occurred around 8 AM when a trailer caught fire on Scott Road, just north of the Vernon Airport. One person was seen walking to a waiting BC Ambulance for treatment.

Around 9 AM, emergency crews responded to reports of a tent fire and propane tank explosion with injuries in the 2600 block of 25th Avenue, behind the "People’s Place." Fortunately, the situation was less severe than initially reported, though a propane tank was involved in the fire.

The third and most significant fire broke out at a recycling plant on Middleton Mountain, quickly escalating to a three-alarm response. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze, though no cause or injuries have been reported at this time.

Residents are reminded to dispose of batteries properly, as improperly discarded batteries can pose a fire hazard in garbage and recycling bins.
