The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is investigating a tragic incident involving a 2-year-old child near Falkland on January 29, 2024, around 4:15 p.m.
Frontline officers responded to a call from BC Emergency Health Services reporting a vehicle striking the child on a rural property off Highway 97.
A private vehicle transporting the child to save time met with emergency responders at Highway 97 and Pleasent Valley Road North of Vernon.
Despite being transported to the hospital, the child did not survive. According to Constable
Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, the incident is not suspected to involve criminal activity.
The BC Coroners Service is conducting its own concurrent investigation. No further details are currently available.
