Vernon RCMP Investigating Possible Shooting on Hwy 97A, Seeking Witnesses
The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is investigating a concerning incident on Highway 97A in Spallumcheen, where a silver SUV may have been struck by gunfire.
The incident occurred on Monday, February 3, 2025, between 8:15 p.m. and 8:25 p.m. The driver of the silver SUV, traveling northbound near Greenhow Road, noticed a dark-colored SUV following closely.
Shortly after, they heard a loud bang and suspected something had been thrown at their vehicle.
When they pulled over to check for damage, the dark SUV stopped alongside them for a brief verbal exchange before leaving.
A second vehicle also pulled up behind but did not engage and quickly drove away.
It wasn’t until reaching their destination that the driver of the silver SUV discovered a hole in the rear driver’s side, which police believe was caused by a firearm projectile, said Corporal Tania Finn, Media Relations Officer.
RCMP are asking the occupants of the second vehicle to come forward and are seeking dashcam footage from anyone traveling on Hwy 97A near Greenhow Road between 8:15 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. on February 3.
