Vernon RCMP Investigating Suspicious Fire

Vehicle and Structure Fire on 30th Avenue January 3, 2025, 7:00 AM

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP and Vernon Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) responded to a significant vehicle and structure fire in the 3600 block of 30th Avenue early Friday morning, January 3, 2025.

At approximately 7:00 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to reports of a vehicle fire in a carport. Upon arrival, firefighters found two vehicles fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to the nearby apartment complex.

VFRS quickly extinguished the vehicle fires and worked to contain the flames that had extended to three residential suites above the carport. As a precaution, the building was evacuated, and crews conducted a thorough sweep to ensure all residents were accounted for.

Two individuals were safely assisted out of the structure.
