Sunday February 16, 2025: Vernon residents were greeted by a fresh blanket of snow Sunday morning, enough to keep shovels and plows busy but not enough to break records. From driveways to roads, anything with a blade was put to work clearing the overnight accumulation.

Despite the snowfall, Environment Canada issued no weather alerts for Vernon or the rest of B.C. However, flurries are expected to continue throughout the day, with 5 to 10 cm forecasted and another 5 cm overnight. Temperatures will hover around -2°C, with a wind chill making it feel closer to -6°C.

Looking ahead, Monday will bring cloudy skies with lingering flurries before clearing in the afternoon. Temperatures will climb slightly to +1°C by midweek, though more snow is in the forecast for Wednesday.

Fresh Snow at SilverStar Mountain Resort

Skiers and snowboarders at SilverStar can look forward to fresh powder, as a weather system moving into B.C. brings new snowfall to the resort on Sunday. Conditions are expected to improve further, with an upper ridge clearing out the clouds by late Monday or Tuesday. Another system is expected to bring more snow by Wednesday, keeping the slopes in prime shape.
