Spallumcheen, B.C. – A 48-year-old man was taken into custody after a weapons investigation led to the deployment of the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) in Spallumcheen late Thursday night.


On March 27, 2025, around 10:20 p.m., Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded to reports of a disturbance at a residence in the McLeod Subdivision of Spallumcheen/Armstrong.

Initial reports indicated that a man, allegedly armed with a weapon, was threatening another person inside the home and refusing to let them leave.


Officers were able to make contact with both the suspect and the victim. The victim was eventually able to leave the residence safely, but the suspect ignored police commands and retreated back inside, refusing to surrender.


The Southeast District Emergency Response Team was called in and after several hours, at approximately 2 a.m., the suspect exited the home and surrendered without further incident.


The man was held in custody pending a court appearance.
